Seaforest Group was founded in 2002. By May 2025, it has grown into an enterprise, which specializing in the R & D, production and sales of hair and eyelash products,with 16 subsidiaries and 1400 employees. It operates 5 factories in China and 2 factories overseas. Its products are sold in 26 countries worldwide, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, the USA, Japan, Australia, Israel, and more.

At Seaforest, one thousand and four hundred people working together aim at manufacturing high quality products to meet the market demand. People at Seaforest love this beauty industry and no other lucrative business could have shifted the company’s concentration. Seaforest has trained itself to keep fluent communication with its premium customers spreading over twenty-six different countries. Seaforest has built up the ability, either independently or coordinatively with its premium customers, to develop new products to meet the market demand. This has created a great many of benefits for hair products consumers and end-users.

Since 2002, Seaforest has established its Corporate Philosophy. The Corporate Philosophy has four core elements: Being Healthy, Being Responsible, Being Agile, and Being Excellent. The four elements are inspired by two books, From Good to Excellent and Built to Last, which are recommended to read for its people. Seaforest has applied its Corporate Philosophy all along its growth. For example, Seaforest has established the Department of Health, which professionally provides health guidance for its people. 

Since 2006, Seaforest has learned “knowledge worker” theory from Peter Druck. By using this theory, Seaforest has given its knowledge workers sufficient space for innovation, as well as self-management. Seaforest has made efforts help its people to live decent life, to build confidence and self-actualize. Seaforest has also learned two principles from Peter Druck: Creating market and creating customers. Drucker’s two books, The Effective Executive and Innovation and Entrepreneurship, have been recommended to its people to read.

Since 2009, Seaforest has learned the Lean Production System from Toyota. The Lean Production System has helped Seaforest build a strong manufacturing system. The application of the Lean Production System has been hard yet worthy. Seaforest has spent a lot of time and money to training its people to adapt to the Lean Production System. A supplier’s credibility comes from its integration of ability, accountability and reliability. By applying the Lean Production System, Seaforest has elevated its ability, accountability and reliability.

Seaforest has believed in the power of market from its founding time. As Adam Smith indicates that free competition is the essence of market economy. Free competition continuously brings new opportunities for entrepreneurial company. In his book, The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith says that, “The quantity of every commodity which human industry can either purchase or produce, naturally regulates itself in every country according to the effectual demand, or according to the demand of those who are willing to pay the whole rent, labor and profits which must be paid in order to prepare and bring it to market.” (vol.1, p. 456) As one part of the whole supply chain, through observing the market demand, Seaforest has coordinated with its premium customers to try to supply right products in right quantity.

Set Sail: Establishment and Exploration (2002-2004)

In 2002, Qingdao Seaforest Trade Co., Ltd. was founded, starting up Seaforest’s sailing journey. It launched the Arctic King Crab program and the program of importing Germany energy drink.

In 2003, due to the challenges posed by SARS, the King Crab program and the energy drink program were suspended. Later, the company changed its original name to Qingdao Seaforest Import and Export Co., Ltd. Seaforest’s founder Stanley Sun brought a team to Nigeria and established a sales team for hair products over there.

In 2004, the company established the Europe Division and the Japan Division for hair products. It also began exploring Jewish wigs market.

Seize Opportunities: Adjustments and Breakthroughs (2005-2007)

In 2005, the company expanded its business by successfully recruiting several new talents. Despite the growth in business, the company was under financial pressure with accumulated losses of 800,000 yuan over the past three years.

In 2006, the company suffered a major setback because of a customer refusing to pay for the fan wig order for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, which resulted in a loss of $208,000. The two resilient founders traveled to Germany to safeguard the company’s rights, meanwhile bringing back many new orders.

In 2007, the company caught up with rapidly growing market and achieved the annual revenue exceeding 3 million dollars, which not only covered previous losses, but also gained profits.

Transform and Upgrade: Market Expansion (2008-2010)

In 2008, the exporting value of the Japan Division exceeded that of the Europe Division. Seaforest became the largest Chinese supplier in the Japanese market in the year.

In 2009, the company established its first manufacturing factory, Qingdao Seaforest Hair Products Co., Ltd.

In 2010, the company obtained its largest-ever single order, valued at US dollar 600,000. It established the North American Division and successfully entered into the U.S. hair extension market.

Expand: Further Refinement of Strategic Blueprint (2011-2013)

In 2011, Qingdao Seabeauty Hair Products Co., Ltd. (later renamed Qingdao Seaforest Fashion Hair Products Co., Ltd.) was established. Seaforest began with brand-building and retail business in the domestic market.

In 2012, Seaforest became L’oreal’s hair products supplier and expand its production capabilities.

In 2013, it invested capital into Juancheng Jinfa Hair Products Co., Ltd. To further increase production capabilities. The No.3 Europe and America Division was established.

Grow and Address Market Challenges (2014-2016)

In 2014, Seaforest’s founder Stanley Sun, while studying in the US, participated in the company’s management. A few key members at the company, who are mostly born in the 1980s, began to play significant roles for the company’s operation.

In 2015, the company moved its headquarters to Hisense Chuangzhi Valley for a better workplace environment. Its export value ranked sixth in the China Hair Products Association, which signaled Seaforest’s fast growth in the first decade in hair industry.

In 2016, the company experienced a slight decline, and yet attracted more talents joining.

Expand and Grow (2017-2019)

In 2017, Seaforest established a new joint manufacturing factory to promote its wig production capacity. Its export value rose to the third in the China Hair Products Association, significantly enhancing its overall strength.

In 2018, the company entered the eyelash business and established an eyelash factory in Pingdu. The company established its third hair factory, Qingdao Zhongsen Art & Craft Co., Ltd.

In 2019, Qingdao Beauty Dancing Hair Products Co., Ltd. was established to meet the domestic market demand of fashion wigs, targeting at young people in big cities in China.

Initiate IPO Plan (2020-2022)

In 2020, Seaforest Group initiated its IPO plan.

In 2021, its export value exceeded 100 million US dollars. The internal management system was adjusted into a divisional organizational structure to clarify the responsibilities and objectives of each business segment. More efforts were made to strengthen corporate culture, including adding a variety of new cultural and sports activities.

In 2022, the company closed its Series A funding round, successfully brought in strategic external capital investors

In 2023, Seaforest was selected as one of the “Qingdao New Economy Potential Enterprises”. The company established its first flagship store in Shanghai at Shanghai Global Harbor Plaza.

In 2024, Seaforest’s Juancheng Seaforest factory moved to a new location, providing larger production capacity for the continuous growth of international market demand, the rapid rise of the domestic market as well. At the 14th China International Hair Fair (CIHF), Seaforest Corporation won the title of “Most Influential Brands”.
